Larry & Joe - Silver Lining

“Silver Lining”
Joe wrote this lively bilingual (English, Spanish) song for his sweetheart, whom he met in 2021 amidst a most topsy-turvy moment in his life. The music was inspired by many hours listening to traditional Caribbean recordings and trying to apply them to the banjo. When he brought the song to the table, Larry laughed and said, “You wrote yourself a calypso without even intending to!” They recorded the skeleton of the song on banjo, cuatro and vocals, and then Larry showed off his percussive chops. (Back in Venezuelan he used to sell calypso percussion ensemble sets and became quite proficient at playing them.) To complete the track, master bassist Nelson Echandía once again brought the thump and some absolutely gorgeous lines.
