Poverty Line
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Tired of making nothing and working overtime
It’s a tough road to hoe and a steep hill to climb
When you’re living underneath the poverty line
I got an education but no career
I spend my nights picking singing and drinking beer
Selling my soul for pennies on the dollar
singing fishing in the dark and deeper than a holler
Sunup to sundown it’s a hustle and grind
Can’t get ahead without falling behind.
I sing this old song sing it clear and loud
I do my best to make my momma proud
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Wish I had a nickel for the wishing well
But my lucks run out and I’m broke as
Loading in and loading out another dive
it ain’t living lord it’s just trying to survive
Blood sweat and tears tumble and toil
Running out of fuel burning midnight oil
But a working man does what a working man do
Trust in the lord and he’ll get you through
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Greenback dollars are on my mind
Tired of making nothing and working overtime
It’s a tough road to hoe and a steep hill to climb
When you’re living underneath the poverty line
