The Disguise
7. The Disguise (5:53)
Hear the engine start, such a lonely sound
You gave your heart, it doesn’t matter now
Brick by brick, we place the lies
Day by day, we pay the price
It shouldn’t come as a surprise
When all that’s left is the disguise
Every step I took brought me straight to you
Now if you walk away, there’s nothing I can do
Note by note, we write our songs
Sometimes they’re right and sometimes wrong
It’s only fear that speaks the lie
That we should live with the disguise
Calling to us like a siren in the night
We want to break free but we’re too scared to fight
So we claw at the masks with all our might
But they won’t come off
They’re on too tight
Every choice we made brought us all right here
Ever breath we take is either faith or fear
We each see the world through different eyes
But if we chip away the ice
We just may come to realize
We no longer need the disguise
