Luckenbach is the 9-song 2022 album from Texas music artist Randy C Moore. Luckenbach (the album) is a comprehensive creation, four-years in the making and in multiple recording studios including Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Sun Studios in Memphis. Moore enlisted an all-star line-up of musicians including Greg Morrow on drums, Randy McCormick on keys, Nobert Putnam and Mike Brignardello on electric bass, Joseph Anderson on piano and Pat Buchanan on guitars. The title track, “Luckenbach” is a Texas Red-Dirt song that laments that “get away from it all” feeling. The off-centered, danceable track is co-produced with mega-hit maker Norbert Putnam (Jimmy Buffett, Dan Fogelberg, Joan Baez), and Moore. Track number two is, “James Dean Dream” an up-tempo number that will have you “air-guitar” jamming in a musical tribute to one’s age-old experience while never letting go of your youthful edge. On the next song Moore throws a heartfelt change-up across the plate with “A Mother’s Prayer”. A song that tells the story of a mother who can only give a prayer of hope and guidance to her newborn child as she chooses to give the baby up for adoption. Track number four turns yet another corner with the rockabilly driven, “Before Elvis”. Randy relates the true story of how his Uncle Gene(co-composer), met the king of rock-n-roll when they were high school kids. Don’t kick off your blue-suede shoes just yet, because song number five is, “Big Bertha”, the hard-driving, co-written Carl Perkins/D J Perkins song. Recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis, “Bertha” is the story of how Perkins got his favorite golf club stolen. This number went on to be single on the 2021 Ronnie Milsap CD, Another Word for Love (Black River Entertainment). On track number six, Moore turns in another co-written Perkins/Perkins track, “I’ll Save A Place”. The simple ballad is the journey of two-brothers and the never-ending bond they share with each other. Randy returns to familiar ground on song number seven, “Mosey Off”, a semi-swampy, Tony Joe White-ish tune that tells the story of a simple man and what he believes the after-life holds in store for him. Song number eight, “Undertaker” will surely get you on your feet again as the hypnotic-bluesy anthem tells a little dark tale of love affairs that end and who is waiting to make you love again. Moore’s final track on the album is entitled, “Jericho”, a mystical “call and response” that conjures up images of victory and defeat, defeat and victory, and the dividing lines that separate us all from the peace and understanding the world desperately needs.
RANDY C MOORE is an Americana Music Artist. A native of Humble, Texas, at 15 years of age he was making his own records; and with the help of Houston radio personality Arch Yancey (KNUZ), his first single releases were receiving significant Texas radio airplay. In addition, he was also a regular feature of the world-famous Gilley’s. By the time he graduated high school, Randy was a guest star on WSM’s Grand Ole Opry hosted by Roy Acuff.
He attended Belmont University in Nashville for modern recording and pro song writing. All the while, he was opening shows on the road with Hank Williams Jr., David Allen Coe, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, and Lee Ann Rimes. His song writing career teamed him up with Nashville greats, Restless Heart, Pat Bunch, David Lee, and rockabilly legend, Carl Perkins.
“ …becoming friends with Carl was about the easiest thing I’d ever done. I’m pretty sure he knew I was nervous, but it all went away with a little, ‘well, how ya’ doin’ son?’…I really miss Carl.”
In October 2001, Randy was a feature artist on The Alliance of Neighbors (Red Bank, NJ) 9/11 Benefit Concert with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Phoebe Snow, Joe Ely, and Smithereens. Randy performed with a backing band composed of Elvis Presley’s rhythm section.
“I sang some Carl Perkins songs with Elvis’ old band mates. It was time to let folks know that God cared for them in their darkest time of need…I hoped it was enough.”
And speaking of Randy C Moore and his Carl Perkins connection. Randy is currently riding the on success of country superstar Ronnie Milsap’s recording of “Big Bertha”, a single from Milsap’s 2021 LP co-written by Randy, Carl, and Perkins’ daughter Debbie Swift Perkins.
Alongside Randy’s live touring schedule, he is also host of the worldwide radio show “Neon Music Country Legacy” and is currently co-producing new music with hit-maker, Norbert Putnam, in Muscle Shoals, AL.
“I’ve been given a great gift…It’s a privilege and an opportunity to make people feel good by playing music for them. I consider myself beyond lucky to do that, day after day.”
