Louisiana Red wrote this song when he lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and walked across the East Street bridge from downtown to the North side. When Earwig CEO Michael Frank, who grew up in Pittsburgh, met Red in Chicago in the late 1990s, he and Red made an instant connection do to their familiarity with Pittsburgh, and their mutual acquaintance with Carl Arter, Earwig recording artist and jazz pianist, who had been the time President of the Black Musicians Union local during the early 1960s.
