Astro-Tidal Drift by Steve Gregoropoulos

A fog of time came up through the banks of the great river
arising from fissures, from the fiery depths, arising,
as I strained my eyes on the bank just to see the sinking sun

The last over-under came sideways down
one side painted red the other one not painted at all
we all threw clay birds in the air and blasted them to pieces on our own

and everything else was shot to bits in the astro-tidal drift

Onto the banks of the hydrogen city washed a huge unidentified fish
it was bloated from the gasses in its stomach and fins
And it only grew and it never looked back

and meanwhile every rainbow disappeared with the rising of the tide
weather balloons painted yellow and silver, sitting across the sky
hiding in the blinding dawn, they were there and then they were gone

and everything else was shot to bits in the astro-tidal drift
