Woke up this morning
Threw the covers off the bed
Breathed in the day
As I stretched and rubbed my head
The day had dawned
Sunlight come
To chase the shadows from my room
But the world outside didn’t look the same
It was a darker shade of gloom

Throw the windows open wide
Let there be light
Lead our blindness to new sight

Put an end to endless night

The news was grim
And the future seemed dim
What a way to start the day!
People should fear
Jobs will disappear
Nothing will be okay
Though the sun was high
In a clear blue sky
To the darkness they were lured
Their eyes transfixed
On the media’s shady tricks
Consuming each discouraging word
