Emerald Holler
A man can make his fortune digging in the mountain
Looking for some colored stones is what the paper said
So I left for the holler tryin’ to make a dollar
Little did I know most would wind up dead

Don’t try to find your fortune down in Emerald Holler
Cause you might dig up somethin’ you never meant to find
It could be a gemstone biggest one that’s ever known
Dare not tell a soul or you’ll have found you dug your grave

Three months into diggin’ creekin’ and a pickin’
I hit something so hard that it shook me to my soul
But big ol’ Billy Johnson, he never found nothin’
He heard I struck it rich and came to take it for his own.

Now I ain’t seen the holler in nearly 30 years now
And I’ve spent all I made from sellin’ that ol’ Emerald Stone
You know I am not the same man that toiled in the hillside
Because part of me lies buried there with Billy Johnson’s bones

Don’t try to find your fortune down in Emerald Holler
Cause you might dig up somethin’ you never meant to find
It could be a gemstone biggest one that’s ever known
Dare not tell a soul or you’ll have found you dug your grave
