February 28, 2012 (Nashville, TN) — Rural Rhythm Records is proud to announce today’s album release, CHRONOLOGY, VOLUME ONE by the award-winning LONESOME RIVER BAND. The album is the first of three 8 song EPS releasing this year commemorating the band’s thirty year milestone. “Lonesome River Band has done what few bands have done, continuously reinvented itself through the years, staying both popular and relevant,” said Keith Lawrence (Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer and Bluegrass Notes Reviewer).
The CHRONOLOGY series features updated versions of many of the Lonesome River Band’s most popular songs during each decade with the talents of Virginia Country Music Hall of Famer and four-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, Sammy Shelor (Banjo); Brandon Rickman (Harmony Vocal, Guitar); Mike Hartgrove (Fiddle); Barry Reed (Harmony Vocal, Bass); and Randy Jones (Lead Vocal, Mandolin). CHRONOLOGY, VOLUME ONE was produced by Lonesome River Band.

New Single Release by Lonesome River Band
“Close The Door Lightly When You Go” Hits Radio

January 10, 2012 (Nashville, TN) -- Rural Rhythm Records is proud to announce a new single release, “Close the Door Lightly When You Go” by Lonesome River Band from their upcoming album, CHRONOLOGY, Volume One set for release February 28, 2012. The song was penned by Eric Anderson and includes the a-list talents of Sammy Shelor: (Banjo); Randy Jones (Lead Vocal, Mandolin); Brandon Rickman (Harmony Vocal, Guitar); Mike Hartgrove (Fiddle); Barry Reed (Harmony Vocal, Bass); and produced by Lonesome River Band.
To commemorate Lonesome River Band’s thirty year milestone, a special 30th anniversary retrospective collection titled CHRONOLOGY will have the group recording 24 songs, to be released in a series of three 8-song EPs - one for each decade of the group’s existence. The material will lean heavily on updated versions of many of the LRB’s most popular songs during each decade, reprised by the current group. “Close The Door Lightly When You Go” is the first single for the first volume in the CHRONOLOGY series.
Lonesome River Band has two previous albums on Rural Rhythm including their most recent album, STILL LEARNING (2010), and their previous release, NO TURNING BACK (2008). They were also involved in two live album projects for the label including: the recently released A BILL MONROE 100TH YEAR CLEBRATION - LIVE AT BEAN BLOSSOM (2011), produced by Sammy Shelor; plus THE ALL-STAR JAM – LIVE AT GRAVES MOUNTAIN (2010), produced by Mark Newton, album that received four 2010 award nominations by the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA) including a nomination for ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
Lonesome River Band remains in high demand for their live performances (watch video) where they continue to thrill audiences at concert halls, music festivals, Performing Arts Centers, TV shows, and a well-received return performance at the Grand Ole Opry. In November 2011, the Lonesome River Band with special guest, Steve Martin performed on The Late Show with David Letterman in celebration of Sammy Shelor’s award for The Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. Martin and Shelor sat down with the late night host who proudly displayed the award followed by an incredible performance of “Molly” (NO TURNING BACK) by band members, Brandon Rickman (lead vocals and guitar), Mike Hartgrove (fiddle), Barry Reed (bass and harmony vocals), Randy Jones (mandolin and harmony vocals) along with Steve Martin and Sammy Shelor on banjo.
