This second song in the Sam Davis cycle follows Sam’s journey over several days to the wilds of Newton County. Sam’s faith is tested at several points but he bravely journeys on until the trail finally goes cold on the Banks of Cave Creek. I’m happy with how this song captures the feeling of travel. I’m also grateful for Kelly Mulhollan’s deft banjo playing that helps keep a sense of that motion and drama.
