The story of The Snow Child was drawn from Buffalo Tales by Bud Phillips. It was told to him by a waitress at a cafe—Snowchild’s Cafe—in Oklahoma, and it is the story that her father was told about how he came to be with the Flud family in Mt. Hersey. I’m always surprised when I play this song that people seem to assume that it’s true. I do really love the story though.
