This is the final song in a series of three about the Martin Family. After settling in Newton County, the Martins have built a farm and resumed a respectable existence which continues until Albert Martin’s sons reach adulthood. Albert’s wife Debbie does her best to parent them well, but their choices destroy the life they’d work so hard to build. I love playing this song live. There’s a hard turn in the plot and it’s a good reminder of how selfish people can do real harm in the name of a good time.
