She Didn’t Say No

I asked her if she’d take a walk up the mountain.

I asked her to please set awhile by the stream.

I asked her if she’d let me put my arms ‘round her,

Let me kiss her sweet lips and let me hold her awhile.

She didn’t say yes, but she didn’t say no.

(Chorus)

Well, she didn’t say yes, but she didn’t say no.

She didn’t say stop but she didn’t say go.

The one thing I’m wondrin’, that I’d like to know

Is how come this romance is goin’ so slow? Yeehaa!

So I took her and we took a walk up the mountain.

We walked up the trail, and we sat by the stream.

I looked in her eyes, as I put my arms ‘round her,

As I kissed her sweet lips and as I held her awhile.

She didn’t say yes, but, she didn’t say no.

(Chorus)

Well, she didn’t say yes, but she didn’t say no.

She didn’t say stop but she didn’t say go.

The one thing I’m wondrin’, that I’d like to know

Is how come this romance is goin’ so slow? Yeehaa!

(Bridge)

So I courted her slowly through the passage of winter and spring.

‘Till she finally consented to marry, and I gave her a ring.

Now we’re happy as punch, up here on the mountain.

We’ve got lots of kids, and a shack by the stream.

Each night as I sit on the porch in the moonlight,

I’m so happy to think that she’s finally mine,

She finally said yes, and, she didn’t say no.
