The wait is over for Larry Sparks fans! Rebel Records is excited to release "Mama's Apron Strings," a new single off of the the bluegrass icon’s first ever guitar and vocal project, It’s Just Me.

An evocative, heart-felt singer with few peers, younger bluegrass musicians are inspired by and study the subtle nuances of Sparks’ vocal style. But Sparks, however, is a double threat, being equally revered for his innovative guitar playing. Countless guitarists have tried to emulate his singular flatpicking style, but few – if any – have truly mastered it.

On "Mama's Apron Strings" as well as It’s Just Me, due out this Spring, listeners get pure Larry Sparks. Recorded at his newly built home studio, it's just him, his signature 1954 D-28 and his son Larry "Dee" Sparks providing subtle backing rhythm on bass.

With Sparks' yearning vocals leading the way, this nostalgic tune paints a picture of a man missing his mother and the comfort of the days when his "world was tied together with his mama's apron strings." When asked about the song, Larry Sparks shared:

"Mama’s Apron Strings was a way of life back in the day. Women used them for working in the home and yet sometimes they would also offer up something sweet in their pockets for the children. This generation of folks were great people. Their first love was caring for their family and providing for their needs. It reminds me of my own mom and the ways she cared for our family."

"Mama's Apron Strings" was co-written by Clarence Kelly and Marshall Warwick. Marshall Warwick has been a favorite writer of Sparks in recent years, penning a number of memorable songs including "1-800-DO-U-Care," "City Folks Call Us Poor," and "You Ain't Lived."
