V1:
Brother as along life’s way you go
If your burdens bend you low
And your weary steps are getting slow
‘neath your load
Then turn to Jesus I’m sure you’ll find
Him a leader true and kind
He’ll guide you on that lonesome, long lonesome road

Chorus:
It’s a lonesome road thru this world of care
As you travel along, seem to get nowhere
Ask Jesus Lord to bear your heavy load
He’ll guide you on this lonesome.. long lonesome road

V2:
When your dearest friends have turned you down
And the whole world seems to frown
And ‘ol satan tries to steal your crown
With his goad
Then let the Savior lend a helping hand
All your needs he’ll understand
He’ll guide you on that lonesome…………. long lonesome road

Repeat Chorus:

V3:
Better get your knees on dust ground
And your soul toward Heaven bound
Then the glory light will shine around your abode
With your spirit free from sin and doubt
Hallelujah you will shout
As you travel down this lonesome, long lonesome road

Repeat Chorus:

An old Carl Story song that I learned from Carl [Jackson’s] dad, who sings the lead vocal on the verses here.
At the annual ‘Home for Christmas’ show in Louisville, MS, we always did this song…Mr. Lethal, Carl, Carl’s Uncle Sock & myself. I told Mr. Lee a few years ago, if and when, I was able to record a gospel CD, I was gonna do this song, since I learned it from him…. Getting him to guest on here with me is such a thrill. I wanted to have Carl’s Uncle Sock Jackson sing on it too. Sadly, he passed away before
I could try to make that happen.
Thanks, Mr. Lee, for making this track so special. This one’s for you Sock.
