Boy it was a big surprise
He's still too small for football
So we got a pistol just his size
Now we value our family tradition
And we get it started early 'round here
Johnny got a gun for Christmas
And he'll get another one next year

Daddy helped him buckle up the holster
While mother showed him how to look cool
The way you stand with a gun in your hand
Is important when you take it to school
Just a couple quick draws in the mirror
He rang the trigger like a jingle bell
Now when Johnny's got a score to settle
He can do it during show-and-tell

And the Sugar Bowl is on the TV
But Johnny's in hostage situation
He tied his sister to the Christmas tree

Filled us full of holiday pride
So we gave him his med and sent him to bed
With a shiny new gun at his side
Now it’s the season for giving
Here’s a barrel full of holiday cheer
