L.A. Big Daddy's
Making Music Properly: EST. 2017-2024
The L.A. Big Daddy’s are the product of dedicated local music teachers who nurtured the dreams of aspiring musicians. Matt Bragg and David E. Jackson found themselves in the right place at the right time, hanging out in a studio with the legendary Quincy Jones. Soon after, they unexpectedly found themselves in New York City, witnessing the recording sessions of STUFF, a remarkable super-group that featured musicians Gordon Edwards (bass guitar), Richard Tee (keyboards),
Eric Gale (guitar), Cornell Dupree (guitar), and Steve Gadd who all became known for creating music that effortlessly blended R&B, funk, soul, and blues.
It is not merely the respect they have earned from their mentors that drives Matt and David, but also the musical memories they hold dear from their beloved City of Angels—Wellington Road. These memories have fueled their unwavering dedication to creating cool, soulful music for decades. Now, their mastery of their craft serves as
a testament to the importance of timing. Both Matt and David would be the first to tell you that the key to achieving greatness lies in the delivery of the music—the style, the emotion, the tactile experience—and in understanding what works and how it should be done. It is this understanding that gives birth to truly exceptional songs.

Rock Your Blues Away is the debut album from L.A. Big Daddy’s team David E. Jackson and Matt Bragg. Both are industry veterans who have backed up artists like the late Sista Monica Parker, The Whispers, Vernon Garret, Garland Green, and Ernie Andrews. After years of playing for others, they decided the time had come to do a project of their own. The 11-track project aptly covers a full range of musical expression, including Blues, Jazz, World and Funk.
“The experience gained from backing other artists gave Jackson and Bragg the vision for this project. It also helped them in writing a strong batch of material in addition to selecting the right musicians and singers to bring that vision to fruition.” – Mark Thompson, Blues Blast Magazine
“I have nothing but good reviews on this project…You have to enjoy this great Blues and Soul mix. When I say you better buy… You have to buy. Enjoy this record… I did!” – Radio Station KPR1 Program Dir. & 30 yr radio veteran Hank Thompson Jr.
"The L.A. Big Daddy’s project is keeping the Blues in real perspective. If real uncut Blues is what you’re looking for, you will find it here. The addition of Southern Legend Ernie Johnson takes it straight to the top.” – Zac Harmon
