6. PIZZA MAN BLUES
It's Friday night and I realised I should be on the road.
Heading out from the hotel to play the next big show.
But the crisis trashed and there ain’t no way to travel.
Started to feel my finances unravel.
I went down to the market square, to the great new pizza store.
The rivals of the company where I once worked before.
Now I'm running round town, in my creaky old Ford.
I haven't gone crazy yet although I’m missing the chords.
World's not the same, all confusion. Some locations, just illusion.
Pay me my dough, back to my pizza roots.
Pay me my dough, wearing out tyres and my boots.
(Giving me pizza blues, nothing left to lose.)
Only gig in town to pay some kind of dues.
Rooty toot toot, I’ve got the pizza man blues.
On my very first working day, I made a few mistakes.
I took the wrong order and they thought I was a fake.
I went to addresses that I thought I had missed.
20 minutes racking my brain, but they didn't exist.
Got sent to the barracks and the guards pulled out their guns.
I said I ain’t got explosives, I’m just on the pizza run.
Only one way left now for me to make a crust.
All the other avenues are down and bust.
Crime wave town, robbers rule the roost. Stopped by cops, no ego boost.
In the grip of a great depression with a heavy dose of plague.
People still gotta eat, even in these desperate days.
I'm stuck inside this city, feeling pretty nitty gritty.
Working like a horse, sweating red tomato sauce.
Keep keeping on, situation change. Working for John, his new vegan range.
