Biography

Keith Gibson [ASCAP] - Composer/Performer [Percussionist]

Since he was nine, Keith Gibson couldn't get enough of music. Knowing early on that music was his life's passion, after his stint as an United States Army Bandsman he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. In addition to graduate studies at The Boston Conservatory, Keith also studied with master percussionist Alan Dawson, Lenny Nelson, and Bobby Ward. Since 1983 he has performed at Boston's premier jazz clubs including The Top Of The Hub Restaurant, Turner Fisheries, The Bay Tower Room, The Colonnade Hotel, The Terrace Bar, Marriott Long Wharf, The Boston Harbor Hotel, Ryles, The Regatta Bar, Scullers, The Copley Plaza Hotel, Wally’s Cafe’, 1369, and the House Of Blues.

Keith Gibson's national performance credits include Branford Marsalis, Delfayo Marsalis, Donald Harrison, John Faddis and Don Braden. He has performed with the Boston Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Melba Moore, Barry Harris, Bill Pierce, Donald Brown, and opened for Tito Puente, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, John Patitucci, Jack DeJohnette, and Marcus Roberts. Other performances include the John Coltrane Memorial Concert, Boston Globe Jazz Festival, Nelson Mandela's Release Party, Equinox Music Festival, Steppin' Out, WGBH-TV's Say Brother and, in France, the Toulon Jazz Festival.

In 1996, Keith formed his band, euJAZZ. Performing for Harvard-Radcliffe class reunions, sell-out crowds at Sculler's Jazz Club and at WGBH's Annual Jazz Brunch, in August 2000 Keith and euJAZZ were honored by an invitation from WGBH-Radio's Eric Jackson to perform a full hour of Keith's original jazz on the famed ERIC IN THE EVENING show.

In 2001 Keith was a panelist at Harvard Law School in a discussion on Jazz In The New Millennium moderated by HLS Professor Charles J. Ogletree, Jr.

Keith's songwriting credits include the American Anthem AMERICA, STAND PROUDLY! and scores of jazz, pop, and Latin tunes.

Salim Washington - flute & tenor saxophone

Master tenor saxophonist, multi-reedsman, composer, and jazz educator Salim Washington is one of the fastest rising stars on the New York Jazz scene today. While in graduate school at Harvard, he wrote a dissertation entitled “Beautiful Nightmare: Coltrane, Jazz, and American Culture” under the supervision of Henry Louis Gates. It is now being prepared for publication as a major historical work. Salim is a member of the Jazz Study Group at Columbia University and a visiting scholar at the Institute for Research in African American Studies at Columbia University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music and African American Studies.


Charles Lewis - trumpet

Charlie Lewis is a world-renowned trumpet player and educator. His credits include international classical and jazz solo trumpet performances with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Baltimore Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Commonwealth Brass Quintet. Charlie is a founding member of the Naumburg Award-Winning Empire Brass Quintet.


Denis Lambert - euphonium & trombone

Denis B. Lambert received his Bachelors degree and conducted post graduate work at Boston University's School for the Arts. His principal teachers have been Ronald Barron, Norman Bolter, Sam Pilafian, Chester Schmidtz, Leslie Parnas, and Victor Yampolsky. Mr. Lambert is a founding member of the Commonwealth Brass and performed with the Empire Brass.


Rollins Ross - keyboards

Rollins Ross is a producer, composer, pianist, and Boston native. A1970 graduate of Berklee College of Music, for years he performed with Donna Summer as the musical director and keyboardist. Rollins' band, Life Force, a sophisticated blend of jazz and soul, performs in the Boston metropolitan Boston area.


Ron Mahdi - acoustic bass

Bassist Ron Mahdi is a graduate of Berklee Collge of Music. He has traveled, performed, and recorded with master drummer Roy Haynes and saxophonist Donald Harrison. Ron is currently on the staff at Berklee as a bass and ensemble instructor.
