Biography
Kaydee aka K-Skills hails from Maryland (a Washington D.C suburb). Heavely influenced by hip-hop since 1990, Kaydee was drivin by the often under-appreciated golden age of rap (1984-90). His first single “First Class” distributed by Fatbeats was released in 1998 and received a tremendous response from Europe, Canada and Australia. The record landed them on radio shows like "The Stretch & Bobbito Show" (WKCR 89.9), NYU Radio hosted by DJ Riz and at "The Nuyorican Café" performing along side of artist like Company Flow and J-Zone. His second single "Creativity" featuring Dr.Becket and El da Sensei (formally of "The Artifacts") was released in 2000 and got rave reviews from magazines like URB and Elemental as well as being licensed by BMG in Germany for a compilation album.
After releasing “Creativity” Kaydee had a day planner full of live shows in the U.S ranging from N.Y to Atlanta. Soon after, K released his third single "Patience and Persistance" and locked the 1 single spot for 8 weeks on www.ughh.com.In 2001. K collaborated with Celph Titled & Apathy and dropped the 12”inch release "Get off my nuts", that’s when K struck a nerve. In 2001, after 3 years, 4 singles and 205 shows in the nationwide, K was offered a deal with indie label Bronx Science Records. K and Celph got to work and dropped his forth single "Who's Fuckin Around"
K was in the process of pressing his next single when he was booked for a 25 date tour in Europe along with J-Live, 7L & Esoteric and Apathy called the True School Academics Tour. In March 2002 K set off for Europe and played venues in England, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Holland,Italy (and the list goes on). While in Europe Kaydee released imports with JuJu Records in Scandinavia and a remix single for Italian R&B artist Alexia “Come tu mi vuoi” on Sony Records/Italia.
That brings us to 2007, the first official full-lengh of Grind Recordings and his debut-album "Kaydee and Chief are The Groove" .This album shows the maturity of a artist that has been dedicated to creating hip-hop for the masses on a international scale for 8 years.
