We Could Be Friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
Different sides of the spectrum different sides of the aisle
but if we ever got together we might just make each other smile
If we ever had a coffee and talked it all out
then we figure out what the fighting's about
We were groomed to dislike each other from the start
But how different are we we both have a heart
Your beliefs don't mirror mine and we don't dress the same
We both worship God by a different name
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
I was born here you came from afar
I spoke English from the time I could walk
You grew up in poverty and I with too much
But we both have talents and desires and such
You believe in abstinence and I in choice
You think less of women and i have a voice
I believe in equality and you’re anti-gay
I’m against guns you support the nra
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
The hatred that we have eats us inside
Neither one will give in as we both have our pride
If we lay down our weapons then we appear weak
I won't be the first to turn the other cheek
Our colors maybe different but our blood is the same
Our presidents have issues maybe they are to blame
If we stood together not on opposite sides
Think of all the progress heal our country's divide
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
If I didn’t hate you so much, we could be friends
