Searching For Madonna
I think they’re all searching for a new Madonna
Something to take away all their sins
Someone to return their innocence
you don’t know how long it’s been

I think they need a new Nirvana
A new example of the truth
Something to reach(strive) for, keep them believing
they’ve lost their faith in everything (themselves and anything)

Society made it all about the money
They climb up the ladder of success
Enrich their pockets instead of their minds
collecting gadgets to impress

Lost souls with no direction
Aimless zombies on the subway train
Hands glued to iPhones rather than bibles
Technology and other false idols

Hands that should be pressed together for prayer
Instead of texting or playing games
Voices that should be used for singing about glory
Shout into earpieces, the poor ignoring

All the temples and churches are bare
You look inside and no one is there
It’s been too long since they’ve been impressed
So jaded, so hardened so stressed

Too involved in the day-to-day
Rush to work, we’ve got bills to pay
Forget the mercy G-d has shown
They forget they’re not alone
There is something bigger that we’re a part of

Yet glory seems so far away
Is there still a higher power
An after life, a final hour
Is there intelligence from another star
Watching our every move from afar
They’ve lost the need, they don’t believe
Put their faith in apple rather than eve

You take pictures for all the world to see
You need your 15 minutes on TV
Desensitized to death, too immune to care
Self-absorbed selfie snap self-aware?
I think they’re all searching for a new Madonna
Something to take away all their sins
Someone to return their innocence (return them to innocence)
you don’t know how long it’s been
