The Gentleman Thief

The horizon’s got a bright red shoeshine on it
And the sun sits down there just about as long as
I’ll be standing here
And as I go I will take the softness of you
And leave you only these memories
Of the moments that we shared

CH: You will try to hold me to you
Though this brings you no relief
I will promise you forever
But I have only come to leave
I’m just a gentleman thief

I will move my steady hands around you
So slow you hardly notice that I’m
Taking all you have
But as a man must choose the road he’s given
I’m drawn by something deeper
It’s like love or gravity

CH:

And please don’t try to save me
The only way to have me
Is to try and let me go

Cuz there’s a stillness in the movement
You can find it if you stop trying
And I’ll keep coming back to show you
And then leave, again, with each beating of your heart cuz
I’m just a gentleman thief
