Just Like Heaven
Just Like Heaven

I dreamed I saw old Vincent Van Gogh
Driving an ancient yellow pickup truck
He was looking behind him, and missed me by inches
Then just drove off into someone's field

Our eyes meet for only a moment
And I'm fixed with that self portrait stare
And everything moves in slow motion
And I wake up like I'd been there
And it feels just like heaven to me

I have joined in a conversation
That he started a long time before
It has shaken things loose in my thinking
And I don't see the same any more
And there are some boats on the water
And there are some stars in the sky
And it all moves exactly the same way
if you look with a painter's eye
And it feels just like heaven
Yeah it feels just like heaven

But it's painful to see things this clearly
I wish everything could just stand still
Because all of this terrible beauty
Is too much ... it's too much

You and I have a new conversation
We each started a long time ago
It has shaken things loose in my feelings
And I know that it's shaken you too
You're a part of my internal landscape now
Like a color that's mixed in my veins
You have sketched a new path in my history
And it leads right to you
And it feels just like heaven … to me
