Release Date: March 2, 2013

Green Tornado Sky was a collaboration between Jim Pipkin and Jeremy Graham while J.D. was performing with Sour Diesel Trainwreck. It was intended as a Red Dirt Country ballad for the group's tour, but this was cut short by Graham's sentencing in a tragic traffic fatality. Sour Diesel broke up, and J.D. still has several years left to serve before he can tour again.

Oklahoma rain on my windshield
Drumming like a rock song deep inside my mind
I've been running way too long
Chasing hard luck dreams over short white lines
Wouldn't want to fall behind
A green tornado sky

I've got the hammer down tonight
If I had wings, Oh Lord I'd fly
Dark clouds ahead, on either side
chased by a GREEN TORNADO SKY

Daddy worked the oil rigs
Back when folks got paid good money to try
Now we work the burger joints
Waste our spare time gettin drunk and high
Broke down on the side
Under a GREEN TORNADO SKY

I've got the hammer down tonight
If I had wings, Oh Lord I'd fly
Dark clouds ahead, but I got to try
To outrun that GREEN TORNADO SKY

Everybody round here knows
When clouds go green
It's time to run and hide
Dark green, like a big ol' bruise
On the cheekbone of a stormy sky
Time to run or die
Under a GREEN TORNADO SKY

I've got the hammer down tonight
If I had wings, Oh Lord I'd fly
Dark clouds ahead, on either side
chased by a GREEN TORNADO SKY

Oklahoma rain on my windshield
Drumming like a rock song deep inside my mind
I've been running way too long
Chasing hard luck dreams over short white lines
Wouldn't want to fall behind
A green tornado sky

I've got the hammer down tonight
If I had wings, Oh Lord I'd fly
Dark clouds ahead, but I got to try
To outrun that GREEN TORNADO SKY
