Jerry Douglas is probably the most famous Dobro player in the world playing and performing with bluegrass greats such as The Country Gentlemen, J.D. Crowe & the New South, Boone Creek, Alison Krauss & Union Station, The Earls of Leicester, and a successful solo artist. On "Slide Rule", Jerry Douglas moves away from the jazz experiments, returning to the straightforward bluegrass of his early work. The result is a stunner, featuring not only a remarkable performance from Douglas, but also from an impressive list of guest musicians, including Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Maura O'Connell, and Tim O'Brien. The backup band on this record features Scott Nygaard on guitar, Mark Schatz on bass, Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Adam Steffey on mandolin, and Craig Smith on banjo.
