Biography
Family groups in Southern Gospel music go way back. The Speer Family, The Happy Goodmans, The Lefevres, just to
name a few. The Jay Stone Singers may not be a household name, but they have a Forty-One-year heritage of ministry going back to their founder Jay Stone, his
wife Mary and their two children, Jeff and Sharona. Keeping the tradition going now is Sharona, her husband Bobby, and their two children Stone and Emma. Come Thirsty is the group’s third album since starting to record with Skyland Records/Crossroads Music. Filled with strong material from some of the most recognized writers in the industry such as Kenna West, Rebecca Peck, Lee Black, Dixie and Sharon Phillips along with some original tunes from Bobby and Stone, you know you are in for a great listening experience.
Come Thirsty kicks off with a country feel featuring Emma on “Just Receive It” followed by “Your Will Another Way” featuring Sharona explaining even when we don’t understand the outcome of our requests from God, it’s His will that is most important. The country feel
continues with “I’m Saved” from the pens of Karen Peck Gooch, Sue Smith and Jason Cox featuring Bobby. The style changes to a more progressive sound with Stone’s feature on a song he co-wrote with Matthew Lawson called
“Each Time” reminding us of God’s faithfulness. There’s even a remake of the Dottie Rambo song “I Go to the Rock” which wraps in a portion of the Speer Family song “Cornerstone” in the intro. Taken from the scripture in the Gospel of John,“...whoever drinks the water I
give them will never thirst. Indeed the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14 The lyrics and beautiful melodies of these songs are like waters, swollen to the point of breaching the banks that confine them
and washing over all who are listening.
Come Thirsty, drink freely!
