The Outlaw Jesus
THE OUTLAW JESUS
(Jason Matthews/Jim McCormick)

They called him no good, they called him freak
Didn't like his long hair, or the sandals on his feet
He had a posse, a wild bunch of twelve
Rode into town laid the gospel down cast demons back to hell

Tossed out the money changers in the temples where he prayed
Wrestled with the devil for forty nights and forty days
We hung him on a wooden cross for what he tried to teach us
The outlaw Jesus

He won't be no meek and gentle lamb when he comes back around
He'll be roaring like a lion, he won't need no thorny crown
And all these mighty kingdoms will all go down in flames
And the whole wide world will tremble at the mention of his name

So get right, get ready, better be prepared
You'll know he's coming, when you hear that trumpet blare
Ten thousand angels in robes of white
Will come riding out of Heaven just looking for a fight
And he'll settle all old scores with the swinging of his blade
Wiping out the wicked, sparing over all the saved
The most wanted man in Jerusalem will finally come to free us
