A professional musician since age 14, Becky Buller Band guitarist Jake Eddy explores a set of seven classic fiddle tunes on his eponymous debut. Influenced by both bluegrass and gypsy jazz, Jake showcases his playing thinking with the support of an all star quartet featuring Rob Ickes on four tracks and duets with guitar giants Bryan Sutton and Kenny Smith on the other three.
“I made this record with one thing in mind,” Jake says. “I wanted to honor the traditional music I grew up listening to, while improvising with other musicians at the highest level. I chose a mix of some of my absolute favorite young players and some of my heroes. They pushed me hard in the studio, and I will never forget that energy and that synchronicity we experienced. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.”
Originally from Parkersburg, WV, Jake, age 21, joined the Becky Buller Band in early 2021 as the lead guitar player and harmony and occasional lead singer. Jake began playing professionally with bluegrass pioneer Melvin Goins. His main source of inspiration comes from his grandfather, who always played bluegrass guitar and banjo, while instilling a love for American music in him. His mother also worked in a band to help make ends meet when he was a child. After performing and recording with Steve Hussey, the WV flatpicking champion belonged to the Eddy/Meyer Band before Buller hired him.
