I first heard and played this song in a jam session in the 1980s and thought it was one of the best tunes I had heard in a long time. Unfortunately, I neglected to ask the name of it, and it was years before I heard it played again and had the presence of mind to immediately ask what it was. I might have guessed it was a Monroe tune as it has all the earmarks of one of his instrumentals.
