Road Less Travelled

Well I was on my way home from a late revival meeting
at a church about 20 miles from home,
when I saw an old hitchhiker walking down the side of the highway
stopped to see if I could help him along.
I said Hey there friend how ya doing? Which way are you headed to?
I don't care a bit to give you a ride.
He said I live up the road less travelled, with a lot of dust and gravel
it will bring you out on the other side.

So I headed down the road less travelled
straight and narrow all the way.


Well he told me on our friendly ride
he was on the good Lord's side
knew that God had a plan for me
but there in a straight stretch of the road
he said this is far as I go
keep going straight and you'll get where you need to be

As I pulled out I looked up
in the rear view my heart sunk
the stranger was nowhere to be seen
when I came out to the highway
I was glad I didn't go my way
when I saw the accident that was meant for me

Then suddenly it was plain to see
it was an angel that God sent me
to take that old road I didn't know
and I believe that the Great I Am
made a change in His plans
tonight at that little church when He saved my soul.

So I headed down the road less travelled
straight and narrow all the way.
