Rain
Rain
traditional, arranged by John D. Messer, 2006
It's a gonna rain children, rain all night long
God's a gonna send the waters from Zion
said He's gonna raise the Heavens up higher
It's a gonna rain, it's a gonna rain.
Well the Lord got angry, upon His throne
the angels in glory they began to moan,
go down yonder angel, stir up a flood
blow out the sun change the moon into blood,
then come back angel, bar that door
declare that time's gonna be no more,
They turned to great God, started to rain
women and children they begin to scream,
they knocked at the windows rattled at the door
cryed brother Noah will you take one more,
but Noah cryed, sorry friend,
God's got the keys and you can't get in,
but Noah wasn't worried 'bout the children getting in
he couldn't hear the angel moan.
Didn't it rain children, rain all night long
God's a gonna send the waters from Zion
said He's gonna raise the Heavens up higher
It's a gonna rain, it's a gonna rain.
Well it rained forty days, nights without stopping,
Noah wouldn't worried when the rain kept dropping,
Lord send down a raven, send down a dove,
water great God kept coming from above,
well they tell the little children of the earth did sink,
couldn't find a rest for the soles of their feet,
Noah wouldn't worried about the rest for their feet
He couldn't hear the angel moan.
Well the wind did blow, the ark did rock
Noah couldn't find nowhere to dock,
but my God spoke, He whispered low
told brother Noah where He wanted him to go,
said a look here Noah, the rain done stop,
want you to land on a mountain top,
he gave brother Noah the rainbow sign,
No more water but the fire next time,
but Noah wouldn't worried 'bout the fire next time,
he couldn't hear the angel moan.
