We struck up a relationship, several moons ago
I thought that it might last, at least, I really hoped so
But slowly, slowly, she crept into my life
And started making hints about being my wife
So, finally, we agreed that we'd live together
And that's when my life moved into stormy weather
She didn't like my drinking, and said I'd have to quit
I said you can't change me, not even a little bit
That troubling gal I've been livin' with left me just this morning
Said she was tired of me bein' a rover
So, why ain't I drinkin'.. I should be drinkin' .. Why ain't I drinkin'
Maybe, She ain't worth a damned hangover
