II BIG is a five-man band that plays together a variety of musical styles that range from metal to country, which, in effect, gives them a unique sound that easily transcends most musical genre barriers.
Originating out of Ukiah, California, the band was formed in March, 1994. They have since built a strong fan base in Northern California by playing local clubs and larger venues as an opening act for national headliners - pleasing audiences of all ages with original and cover material, and exercising their ability to manipulate a crowd's mood.
II BIG is fronted by
Jeff Jordon, who injects soulful lyrics that are meaningful and haunting, delivered with a throaty voice that he can easily transform into metal-edged screams, when necessary. His obvious country influence stems from early childhood jams with his parents' country & western band. Jeff has since been in a wide variety of musical situations, from solo acoustic to heavy metal. His no-nonsense style of guitar playing, along with song writing from the heart, and an instant magnetism with any crowd explains why Jeff is a chief ingredient in the band's formula.
Rhythm guitarist
Buck Jordon, the eldest of the Jordon brothers, is one half of the band's namesake-given his 6'4" ominous frame. Buck attacks his instrument with a solid yet animalistic approach. His influences lean more towards the metal side, and his backing vocals are powerful and harmonious. His stage presence is maniacal, in the least, and it provides a very positive energy to both the band and the audience.
Bassist
Joel Jordon, the youngest of the three, stands at a staggering 6'7" tall... hence the band's name - II BIG. Joel's punchy, driving bass lines and well-placed licks give the rhythm section a solid bottom-end. His backing harmonies are perfectly placed and executed with extreme power. The "calm warrior" best describes his onstage persona.
Drummer
Ken Ingels, provides a firm foundation to the band. His hybrid style of drumming sounds like a cross between John Bonham and punk. Head-bashing and cymbal smashin' within a well-timed groove suits his energetic personality, which comes across live as well as on tape.
Lead guitarist
Rik Pietrewicz, puts the icing on the cake by inserting licks and leads where it feels good, in order to accentuate, not obliterate the songs. He's influenced by everything from blues to country to metal and classical, and executes his licks with speed and finesse. Rik's high end vocal harmonies blend well with the Jordon Bros.' And his songwriting is from the heart - reflective of life's experiences.
