Hydrocarbon Heaven

There’s a ghost town out west of Colorado
In a part of the desert most won’t see
The grey hills, the railroad
Falling down buildings the whole show
For sale, it could be bought damn near free

The discovery of oil made this boomtown
Riggers came from all around
Then the war was won, McCarthy done
The whole town packed up and moved on
Leaving the buildings to crumble over time.

Chorus

The sun always shines in Cisco
Built by oilmen in boom times
In the 70’s just a ghost town
The whole lot falling down
A tiny dot on the map,
You can miss it without even trying.

In ’65 they surveyed in the interstate
Bypassing Cisco for good
By ’83 the road was in,
No one would stop by again
They paid no mind to a town that once had been.

Chorus

Now there’s not much life left in old Cisco
For sale it will probably always be
Home to river rats and rafters
And rusty frozen pump jacks
The oilman’s life here wasn’t meant to be.

Chorus

The sun always shines in Cisco
Built by oilmen in boom times
In the 70’s just a ghost town
The whole lot falling down
A tiny dot on the map,
You can miss it without even trying.
You can miss it without even trying
You can miss it without even trying
