I have the pleasure to say this. Thanks to all my old friends all of them gone but me. I’m still hangin’ in here.Glad to be here. Glad to keep the tradition of the blues. I am Homesick James.
I’m doing this recording, and doing this lp. I’m doing this special thing going out to Yank Rachel, living in Indianapolis, Indiana over there. It goes out special for Yank and also an old friend of mine Sunnyland Slim. It goes and reach back to Big Joe Williams. And Lonnie, but way before Robert Jr. Lockwood. I want this to go back to all my old friends.
My baby’s gone and she won’t be back no more
My baby’s gone, won’t be back to me no more
See I love my woman Man but she just won’t come back to me no no
Early in the mornin’ people just about the break of day
Early in the morning, people just about the break of day
I hugged the pillow man as me and Big Joe Williams used to say
Where she used to lay
Go back to my time when I was real young
Me and Big Bill Broonzy and Lonnie Johnson and Big Joe we used to have a good time
Go back to my time me and Big Joe Williams and Lonesome Johnson used to have a real good time
Playing these blues
That’s why I’m still alive today carrying these traditions on
That’s right
