On the subject of being-here-now, absorbing and enjoying life while the fleeting moments are with us. The first part of the story is literally true. The lyric grew out of a parking lot moment; a phone conversation with an old friend who had moved away from Alaska, after I had learned that his wife had passed away. I was moved by his strength and willingness to meet his misfortune on his own terms.
