Michael Henchman - Burning Bush
7. Burning Bush (alternative folk/roots)
On the one hand, the song carries a tone of superhuman achievements... it initially grew out of tall tales I'd heard from old codgers who owned worn roadhouses along the Alaska Highway which I occasionally traveled. Some of these men had been alive during the Gold Rush era and had seen a lot in their day. As I delved further into the imagery, I realized the song also speaks of the hubris of humanity across the centuries; of believing that we can do anything without consequences.
