Bubba Chandler Releases Solo Recording
Mountain Fever Records is proud to distribute this new
release from Bubba Chandler starting with the single
"Last Lonely Eagle". Bubba cut his teeth on grass
when he discovered the Nitty Gritty Dirt band, and fell in love with the sound. After becoming friends with Roger Handy, he went on to fill in for him with the Lost and Found after Roger decided to leave the road.
During his 4 years with L&F, the band toured Europe, had their own television show, and put out 2 records on Rebel Records, that contain cuts that are still among the staples of bluegrass music to this day. When Bubba decided to "get back at it" and record a solo project it was a no-brainer to give his old friends of the L&F a call.
This remake of the Lost and Found classic, "Last Lonely Eagle" features Allen Mills on bass and backing vocals and the legendary Gene Parker on banjo and backing vocals. Gene told us that day in the studio that he hadn't recorded since 1986 and after this was over he'd more than likely never record again. He just doesn't like to record.
We figure the man is entitled since he's already recorded some of the greatest, most original "in and around the pocket" banjo picking found anywhere. We are just thrilled that we got to be a part of it. Last but certainly not least, joining in on fiddle is Gene Elders who has spent
the last several years touring and recording with George Strait's
Ace in the Hole band.
The loss of two of his best friends in 2006, Mike Smith and
Dempsey Young, prompted him to get in gear and finish a few ideas he had for songs. This album, titled "Somebody To Sing To", and featuring 6 of Bubba's original songs, is a collection of bluegrass, country, folk, and blues representing Bubba's life the way he wants it to be remembered.
