A Tom Waits tune. Brilliant song, brilliant lyrically. I was reminded of it when I saw the great Sierra Hull do it. I think it’s a thinly veiled gospel song. Kind of an oblique message, but it's about if you're having trouble, if you're in despair, if things aren't going well, come on up to the house. For me, it's clearly a gospel song, and that’s coming from a lapsed Jew, I don't exactly know how to justify it, but there you have it.
