Take This Hammer
Take This Hammer (traditional)
“Take This Hammer” was brought to the world by Leadbelly,
who occasionally sang with Sonny and Brownie. I first
learned it at a summer camp run by Pete Seeger brother
John. At camp, we never sang the “Whop!” of the hammer
landing, but this time we’re following the Leadbelly
version.
