Biography
Guerilla Black is back on the scene with his sophomore album entitled "God Bless The Child," which is the follow up to Guerilla City as he pulls no punches with his smooth lyrical delivery over polished production.

Guerilla Black was born in the Chicago area (Joliet, IL), and his family moved to Mississippi during his childhood. After one of his uncles boasted of the economic promise waiting in the West, G. Black's mother moved the family to California. That move ended up being a bit premature and the family was homeless for a period of time. As a result, they bounced between shelters in Long Beach before finally making a home in Compton, California.

By his teens, Guerilla Black was clearly influenced by the rampant gang
activity in his Compton neighborhood. He was already hustling, "stealing cars and things of that nature," he says. He was never able to forget his experience living in homeless shelters and he often fell asleep listening to NWA, LL Cool J, Run DMC, Rakim and other hip hop pioneers.

After an initial label deal fell through, Guerilla Black gave up on his ambitions to be an MC. His life took a turn for the worse when he lost his wife to meningitis, but his brother coaxed him back into hip hop. Virgin signed Guerilla Black and released Guerilla City in 2004 and featured guest performances from Mario Winans, Nate Dogg and Beenie Man. Guerilla City went on to sell 300,000 copies in the United States and was regarded as one of the top rap releases for 2004.

Since his Virgin release, Guerilla Black has released several mix tapes and has been performing on the West Coast. In addition, he has started his own label Dolla Figga and worked with veteran underground producer Big Hollis and Street Money Entertainment. The collaboration resulted in "God Bless The Child," a twelve-song album featuring the first single "Whatever." The first track was produced by platinum producer Neff-U (Ne-Yo, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre) and is accompanied by a video shot on Guerilla Black’s home turf of Compton, California.
