Gruppa Lits translated into "Group of Faces". Gruppa Lits is a band from Moscow Russia that was created back in February of 2002. Members of the band include: Lev Moquchy -producer(songwriter), Alexander Zheleznyak-drums, Savely Gylba-songwriter (bass), Alexander Mudryak- bayan (a kind of accordion), Robert Poluektovich-keyboard and guitar, Andrey Medvedev- lead vocals, Juan Marina de Erba- guitar and dorma (string instrument similar to a mandolin).
The song Tattoo from Bangkok was written in 2002, which was intended for an amateur film shot by Lev Moguchy. What resulted pleased not only the writers (Lev Moguchy, Savely Glyba and Robert Poluektovich), but also their friends. After this, two more songs were written: Ishchu sebya (I still dont know what I want from life, literally Im looking for myself) and Seredovic, which according to Gruppa Lits, determined their chanson ("ballad") style. In January of 2003 Gruppa Lits got down to recording 11 tracks in a studio for their first album Tatuirovka iz Bangkoka. After two months of studio work, the material was sent off to Germany to be re-mastered. While these studio recordings were being made, the promotional video for the song Tatuirovka iz Bangkoka was filmed by the director Vadim Koshkin in Yury Kuklachovs Cat Theatre. The video was made with the assistance of the Balaganchik Theatre. The album Tatuirovka iz Bangkoka was released in September of 2003. Gruppa Lits is currently signed to ACM Records.
