Mother's Day

Verse One:
Hello Mom, how’ve you been?
Everybody’s doin’ just fine
The kids are alive
And the wife and I try
To find ourselves some private time

Verse Two:
I know it’s been a while
Since I’ve been around
I keep forgetting
And the clock keeps winding down
Just trying to go that extra mile

Chorus:
I’m standin’ by the moss - In my Sunday best
The kids are playin’ in the sunshine -
On the fresh mowed grass
It’s another Mother’s day -
With the ladies in their hats
Just the sound of morning doves -
And the cars as they go past

Verse Three:
It’s springtime now
In the air at least
I’ve bought you a bouquet
Of roses that you can keep
Next to you while you sleep

Verse Four:
Dad and I still miss you
Mostly on sunny days
Or rainy ones or snowy ones
We always tend your stone
Wishing you could still come home
