Since You’ve Been Gone is a song I initially wrote for my cat that passed away. It was written on acoustic guitar with more of a folksy feel. The original lyrics were “I find it hard to carry on” and “it gets harder every day,” a more woe-is-me type lyrics.

To make the song more rock 'n roll, we switched the lyrics around to “it’s not hard to carry on," and "it gets easier every day,” more a forget you!-type lyrics. Then, we added the electric guitar part that plays throughout; we were going for more of a Tom Petty feel for the recording.
