Yankees In My Smokehouse
John Mason was at my house one evening and we were discussing production and songs that we would record on what would become "Gray Ghost - Songs of the South" and I suggested that we write an original song about Yankee Soldiers raiding a Southern farm and taking everything that was worth taking. John seemed to like this idea, as we had never heard of a song about this subject, and especially not a song from a Southern farmer's prospective.

John lives about 15 miles from me as the crow flies, and before he had time to drive home, he called me from his cell phone and sang me "Yankees in My Smokehouse" - the song was perfect.
