Evening Bell
EVENING BELL

In the time that we’ve been traveling down this long, uncertain road
Chasing dreams among the stars that fall and rise,
My hopes have never wavered though my goals have often changed
Reflected in the faith found in your eyes.

But now the times are changing, and the light is coming down,
And the visions of our youth begin to fade.
Though we find ourselves now following our paths a world apart,
There’s a future for us that our pasts have made.

I often think of older days when you and I were young,
So wild and running toward the sun,

When we never thought of borrowed time,
When we took for granted yours and mine,
When we threw too many coins into that wishing well.

Ahh, the grand plan tells us of a heart for every soul
And a bond between all creatures great and small.
Though I’m grateful for your company, I’m still haunted by the sound

Of your footsteps when they echoed down the hall.

I often think of older days when you and I were young,
So wild and running toward the sun,

When we never thought of borrowed time,
When we took for granted yours and mine,
When we threw too many coins into that wishing well.

I swear I feel you standing next to me.
Wherever I would go, you’d follow.
If it’s imagination, I don’t want to know
Cuz the truth is a bitter pill to swallow.

I often think of older days when you and I were young,
So wild and running toward the sun

When we never thought of borrowed time,
When we took for granted yours and mine,
When we never thought of borrowed time,
When we took for granted yours and mine,
When we threw too many coins into that wishing well.
One day you run across the hill to greet me, when I hear…
When I hear that evening bell.
