Dragon Wings

The King was laughing as the Jester took the throne
The people thought the joke was theirs and theirs alone
The court advisors split their ranks and hunkered down
The Jester preened his crazy comb and stole the crown

Now that there ain’t nobody else

The Eagle boasted it was smarter than the Bear
The spoils of war now horded in the Dragon’s lair
When Ursa Major woke, exacting cold revenge
The Dragon smiled to see the Eagle crawl again

The King was only silent when he thought before he spoke
The Jester blustering incessant palls of smoke
The Eagle blinded now, he screeched his victory cry
The Bear avenged and Dragon wings across the sky
