This saucy bourrée was written by our Fred’s hurdy-gurdy teacher. Its melody is beguilingly intuitive, but full of playful ambiguities about tonal centre and pulse. It is repeated several times, creating an ever-feistier textural crescendo. While it opens the album, A Bis was actually the closer of the Ramblers’ 2022 shows.
