Elvin Bishop & Charlie Musselwhite - Midnight Hour Blues
Carr, Universal Music obo Wabash Music, BMI

These two famed bluesmen both began their careers in the 1960s—Southern boys who had come to Chicago, neither thinking of becoming a professional bluesman. They were welcomed onto South Side bandstands by Muddy Waters, Hound Dog Taylor and Little Smokey Smothers. Much to their surprise, they became among the first artists to carry the blues to a young rock audience. Both moved to California and won international fame and lifelong recording careers. Midnight Hour Blues is from the first album these longtime friends cut together, a stripped-down session with just the two of them, plus Bob Welsh on piano and guitar and Kid Andersen, the producer, on upright bass.
